This afternoon at approximately 2:19 p.m. a 911 call was received from a residence in the 19800 block of Silver Creek Drive indicating that there was an unwanted visitor who was possibly armed. Skagit County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call. Deputy Anne Jackson arrived at 2:50 p.m. at the Silver Creek Drive address. Something led her to 19300 block of Bridle Place.
At approximately 4:10 p.m. dispatch received a radio call that indicated the deputies were under fire at the Bridle Place address. Deputy Anne Jackson was found at that location deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
At 4:13 p.m. deputies confirmed an additional male victim deceased at the Bridle Place address.
At approximately the same time a male on a motorcycle appeared at the Alger Shell Station with a gun shot wound to the arm.
Shortly after that Washington State Patrol Trooper Troy Giddings saw the suspect vehicle on southbound I-5 and began to follow the vehicle. At about 4:17 p.m. Trooper Giddings radioed shots fired. The trooper received a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm. Trooper Giddings backed off and exits the freeway.
The suspect was followed by another trooper as he traveled down the freeway.
At 4:22 p.m. the suspect, a 28 year old Alger man, was arrested in the Skagit County Sheriff's Office parking lot without incident by Washington State Patrol troopers, with the assistance of Skagit County deputies and Mount Vernon police officers.
Also at approximately 4:22 p.m. law enforcement receives a report of a one car fatality collision near mile post 238. It was later discovered that this victim had been shot.
At 4:31 p.m. troopers confirm one male deceased on I-5.
At 5:00 p.m. a home owner discovers two males construction worked deceased at a residence in the 19500 block of Silver Creek Drive.
At 5:19 p.m. deputies locate a female deceased at a different residence in the 19500 block of Silver Creek Drive.
Deputy Jackson was 40 years old. She had been a deputy since 2005. Prior to that she was an animal control officer with Skagit County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Jackson was single with no children. Her family in Oregon has been notified.
At this time, investigators are securing the crime scenes for the night, and will return to process crime scenes in daylight.
