On July 21, 2007 at 12:45pm the Mount Vernon Police responded to a robbery at Tacos Guadalajara in the 500 block of North 4th Street. The victim, a 30 year old Mount Vernon man, said that the suspect demanded the cash box. Shots were fired by both the suspect and the victim. No injuries were reported.
The suspect fled in a dark colored Honda. The victim followed the suspects in his private vehicle and gave dispatchers information to guide the officers responding.
The suspect vehicle turned onto the 1800 block of South 17th Street and stopped at the dead end. Three suspects, a 23 year old Mount Vernon man, 16 year old Mount Vernon juvenile male, and a 15 year old Mount Vernon juvenile male fled on foot. Mount Vernon Police were assisted by Skagit County Sheriff and Washington State Patrol units in a foot search of the area. The area searched included between South 15th and South 18th Streets, to Section and Fowler Streets. Two were apprehended in the 1600 block of South 16th Street, and one in the 1200 block of South 16th Street. The suspect vehicle has been impounded as evidence, and a cashbox has been recovered.
The adult male was booked into Skagit County Jail on investigation of Robbery 1st degree and Assault 1st degree; the juveniles were booked into Skagit County Juvenile Detention on investigation of Robbery 1st degree.
Several witnesses called into 911 to assist officers in locating the subjects. Investigators are asking anyone who has information regarding this incident to call Mount Vernon Police at 360-336-6271 or 911, including a possible witness seen at G&M Market driving a Red Dodge pickup truck.
