February 7, 2005 Train Pedestrian Accident

On Sunday, February 6, 2005, at approximately 7:05 PM, Mount Vernon Police were dispatched to the railroad tracks just north of Section Street regarding a train pedestrian accident.

Officers arrived and found the deceased body of a female who had been struck by a north bound Amtrack train.

The train operator who was preparing to stop at the Kincaid Street Station observed the female laying on the tracks just north of Section Street just prior to the train accident.

Investigators have a tentative identification on the victim; however will be working with the Skagit County Coroner to confirm positive identification today.

The Amtrack train was stopped at the Kincaid Street Train Station for approximately 3 ½ hours.

The investigation is continuing…
