MOUNT VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT

On August 29, 2009 at approximately 7:32pm, Mount Vernon Police were dispatched to a reported gunshot at 622 North 4th Street. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 33-year old male with a gunshot wound to the head. The 62-year old father of the gunshot victim was also contacted and found to have minor injuries from an apparent physical struggle. Officers also recovered a firearm at the residence believed to have been used in the incident.

Both parties were transported to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Based on the scene investigation, including statements from witnesses and involved parties, the 62-year old male was booked into the Skagit County Jail on charges of First Degree Assault.
