August 2007 RobberyBack

Cases: 07-M16313, 07-M16379;  BPD Cases: 07-B07564

On August 24, 2007, at 9:00am, Mount Vernon Police responded to an armed robbery at Stop and Go Espresso located at 801 West Division Street in Mount Vernon.  The suspect was described as a female, wearing jeans and flip flop sandals, light brown hair, carrying a large kitchen knife.  The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  Witnesses also reported seeing a vehicle leave the area.  K9 was called and located a short track.

At approximately 10:05am, Burlington Police responded to an armed robbery at Hotties Espresso, 805 Goldenrod Road.  Witnesses reported a male suspect, leaving in a vehicle and obtained a vehicle description and license plate number.  A responding Burlington officer also remembered the vehicle from a prior contact and was able to review records and confirm the license plate.

At 10:35am, Mount Vernon officers spotted at the vehicle at 1st and Division Streets and conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Cameron Way.  A 30 year old Clear Lake man and a 41 year old Clear Lake woman were arrested for Investigation of Robbery 1st degree.  They are being charged with both MVPD and BPD robberies from this date.  Detectives from both agencies are continuing with a joint investigation.  Mount Vernon detectives are also reviewing the robbery of Hollywood Espresso in Mount Vernon yesterday for similarities.

The arrest of these suspects is due to witness information and a high level of cooperation between Burlington Police and Mount Vernon Police.  The agencies assisted each other during both calls.  Quick investigation and acute observations led to the arrest of the suspects.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact Mount Vernon Police at 360-336-6271 or 9-1-1.
