April 19, 2005 Accident

On Tuesday April 19, 2005 at approximately 5:39 PM, Mount Vernon Police Officers were dispatched to an accident involving a 2004 Chevrolet Cube Van that had been pulling a trailer and an elderly female who had been traveling in a wheel chair.

The driver of the van was in the process of exiting a business in the 700 block of East College Way turning westbound when it collided with the wheelchair/occupant that was traveling eastbound.

The elderly female who has not been positively identified expired at the scene of the accident.

The van was operated by a 58-year-old Mount Vernon man.

The Washington State Patrol is assisting the Mount Vernon Police with the accident scene investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is encouraged to contact the Mount Vernon Police Department at (360) 336-6271 during business hours Monday through Friday and by calling 9-1-1 after 5:00 PM.
